Consultations are possibly one of the most significant parts of your journey with us, we take the time to get to know you guiding you towards the most appropriate treatment options for you, and an ongoing plan for future treatments and maintenance.
Your initial appointment with us may be a little longer than follow-up appointments, so as to enable full history taking, assessment, discussion and development of your personalised plan.
You will be offered a follow-up consultation/review after any treatment, this is to ensure the treatment has gone as expected and met the goals of your treatment plan. As we deem safety as one of the most important areas of our practice, we prescribe and inject minimal doses to achieve your outcomes, this may occasionally result in adjustments and extra injections being required at your follow-up consultation.
For wrinkles and lines: Facial lines are caused by the repeated use of facial muscles in expressing emotions. Over time the skin becomes creased in the areas of greatest use, and combined with the ageing process this causes slowing down of the production of collagen and elastin in the skin resulting in some lines becoming more permanent. By reducing the movement of these muscles using Botulinum Toxin, the skin will stop being continually creased and this allows the lines to soften and even fade away in time – with research now also showing that the subconscious habit of over using these muscles can be broken. These injections only cause temporary relaxing of the muscle, and full effect can wear off after 3 months, hence requiring repeat treatment, but over treatment years, treatment frequency and the amounts/volume of required treatment may reduce.
As we grow older, our skin naturally loses fat, collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, which provide facial volume and support. Our facial structure (bones), muscles and fat pads also lose volume, including our dentition, jaw, maxilla (cheekbones). Dermal fillers are materials that are designed to be placed under the skin to improve appearance either by support or augmentation to these and many other areas.
There are several diagnosed medical issues that can be treated with injected Botulinum Toxin, including Bruxism (teeth grinding) and subsequent headaches and migraine.
As progressive healthcare practitioners we are always training to increase our knowledge and upgrade and extend our practice, if you have any questions about treatments not mentioned here, please speak to us, they may actually be under development or already available.
